Career
You've been asking yourself what to do with your life for years and the asking hasn't produced an answer.
You did the StrengthsFinder. You took the Myers-Briggs. You journaled the questions from the career book that was supposed to clarify it. You didn’t get the answer. You watch other people who seem to know what they want and you can’t understand how they know. You’ve started to suspect some people are born with this and you weren’t.
You’re not failing to find clarity. You’re using a method that doesn’t produce clarity.
You didn’t get clarity on schedule.
Educational, not diagnostic. Not a substitute for clinical assessment.

You very likely came out of childhood without much practice at choosing for yourself. You may have grown up in a household where the adults made decisions for you, or where wanting something specific was punished or dismissed, or where you were trained to want what you were supposed to want. You may have absorbed the idea that there’s a single right answer to what you should do with your life, and that you should be able to find it by thinking hard. The thinking-hard model is what you learned. It doesn’t work for the question you’re asking.
You’re asking “what should I do with my life,” which is the wrong size of question. The asking produces more asking. The lack of answer fuels the next round. People who know what they want usually arrived there through specific situations that gave them information. The thinking came after the doing.
If you suspect you’re in the wrong career specifically, see I’m in the wrong career . If you’re at a transitional life stage, see I feel lost or I’m having a midlife crisis .
You’re trying to think your way to clarity. We work on what would let the clarity arrive through doing instead.
Strategic therapy retires the question you’ve been failing to answer and replaces it with smaller questions you can actually act on. The big “what should I do with my life” loop has been the obstacle, not the path. Once it stops running, real direction shows up through the doing instead of through the thinking.
You’ll start moving. The clarity arrives in the moving.
