Focus
The list never gets done and the day is full of starting things and not finishing them and you've started to suspect it's not just laziness.
Focus problems aren’t usually about ability. They’re about a system that’s been training itself to operate a particular way for years. The phone, the open tabs, the notification sounds, the list of half-finished projects: each is a piece of an environment that’s been making the focus harder, and the workarounds you’ve tried have mostly been adding to the environment rather than addressing the system that lives in it.
Your not-focusing isn’t a character flaw. It’s a system that’s been responding rationally to the conditions you’ve been operating in.
I procrastinate everything. Even things I want to do. → I procrastinate everything
I’m always late. And I keep promising myself I won’t be. → I’m always late
I forget everything. Names, appointments, where I put things. → I forget everything
I can’t finish what I start. The starting is fine. The finishing isn’t. → I can’t finish what I start
Did I just discover I have ADHD as an adult. And the diagnosis fits and you don’t know what to do with it. → Did I just discover I have ADHD as an adult
Educational, not diagnostic. Not a substitute for clinical assessment.

The productivity systems treat focus as a tool problem. The right list, the right app, the right time-blocking method, the right rule. The systems work for a few weeks because they’re new. The novelty fades. The system stops working because the novelty was the part that was working, not the system.
You can’t system your way out of a focus problem if the system isn’t addressing what’s been preventing the focus.
Strategic therapy ignores the productivity-tool layer and goes straight to the conditions you’ve been keeping in place that make focus impossible. We change what you do at the exact points where attention has been getting handed to the phone, the next tab, or the next idea. The focus shows up because the environment around it stops actively training you out of it.
The list starts moving. Your attention becomes available because what’s been crowding it out stops being maintained.
