Money
The money in your account doesn't change how you feel about money and the anxiety has been there at every income level.
Money anxiety has its own structure that doesn’t always correspond to the actual money in your account. The amount changes. The anxiety doesn’t. The system that’s been generating the anxiety is independent of the financial reality, which is why the standard advice (“just save more, just earn more, just budget”) doesn’t reach it.
The anxiety isn’t responding to the numbers. It’s responding to a system that’s been running for years.
I’m anxious about money even when I have it. The amount doesn’t change the feeling. → I’m anxious about money even when I have it
I can’t stop checking my bank account. Multiple times a day, every day. → I can’t stop checking my bank account
I’m in debt and panicking. And the panic is making the financial decisions worse. → I’m in debt and panicking
I overspend when I’m stressed. And the spending makes the stress worse. → I overspend when I’m stressed
I’m afraid to spend money I have. Even when there’s plenty. → I’m afraid to spend money I have
I gamble. And it’s costing more than I can keep covering. → I gamble

Financial advice assumes the problem is the money. Earn more, save more, spend less, budget better. For people whose money problem is structural rather than mathematical, the advice produces brief relief and then the system reasserts itself. The work isn’t in the spreadsheet. The work is in the system that the spreadsheet has been failing to address.
You can’t budget your way out of a money problem that isn’t actually about budgeting.
Strategic therapy treats the money pattern as the structure it is, then works the structure directly. Whatever your version is (the checking, the avoidance, the panic, the hoarding, the chase) gets addressed at the second it activates, with assignments you carry into the days between sessions. Your relationship to money reorganizes because what’s been organizing it stops getting fed.
Money goes back to being a tool. The constant emergency stops being the weather.
